Halima Mahomed is an independent researcher and consultant with over 20 years of experience in the field of philanthropy. Her work focuses on advancing the narratives, practice, and impact of philanthropy in Africa through the lenses of power, agency and social justice, and she has written extensively on these issues. Halima works closely with institutions such as TrustAfrica, the Ford Foundation and others at the forefront of supporting and strengthening African philanthropy; she is an Associate Researcher at the Centre for African Philanthropy and Social Investment and serves on the PSJP Management Team, Alliance Magazine Editorial Board, and ICNL Advisory Council. Her current work focuses on advancing African narratives on the radical transformations needed by institutionalized philanthropy around its role in Africa and on the role of philanthropy in relation to the broader civic space on the continent.
