Responsibilities: Identify grassroots and advocacy organizations that work for progressive social change; evaluate proposals and make grant recommendations; monitor the progress of ongoing grants, conduct periodic evaluations of programmatic areas, work with Veatch board members and grantmakers.

Mama Cash aims to strengthen its grantmaking by hiring an ambitious and experienced feminist activist to manage a thematic grantmaking portfolio titled Body. The portfolio supports women’s, girls’ and trans people’s groups, organisations and initiatives that push beyond the status quo in the areas of reproductive justice, sexual rights, and ending violence all forms of violence.
The new SPO – Body will build our networks in this thematic area, act as a thought leader for the thematic area, shape Mama Cash’s portfolio of grantee-partners on the Body theme, and take leadership in developing our priorities related to the portfolio. The Senior Programme Officer will work both independently and as an integral member of the Programmes Team. The position will also support the Programmes Team to ensure that our grantmaking policies and procedures align with our strategic plan.

The GFCF is looking for a consultant to support the next phase of its development as an essential piece of the infrastructure for the global community philanthropy field.
Over the last six years, the GFCF has evolved from a pilot project to a fully-fledged independent legal entity, registered in the UK and South Africa and based in Johannesburg. As a small “hub” institution serving the needs of the fast-growing and still evolving field of global community philanthropy, it has also been through an important process of learning and experimentation around its grantmaking, field-building and knowledge management strategies.
As the board and management look ahead to the GFCF's future it will be essential to reflect on the institution’s journey as a new institution, and the learning that has been derived in order to establish a clear direction in terms of its long-term strategy and niche.
A Terms of Reference for this work is attached. Proposals should be submitted by November 2nd 2012
